Comparison guide
Fleet dispatch software alternatives: what to compare
If you are weighing fleet dispatch software alternatives, compare them on criteria, not on brochures. This page gives the nine things worth testing in any dispatch product, how to test each one, and where MobilityDrive stands on it, limits included. It does not describe other vendors' products.
How should you compare fleet dispatch software alternatives?
Compare alternatives on the work your dispatchers do in the exceptions, not on the feature list. Write down how a booking travels through your business today, take that flow to every vendor, and score each product on the same nine criteria: where bookings come from, what stops a bad allotment, how automatic allocation behaves, tracking, the driver app, the duty record, invoicing and tax for your country, fit with your accounts, and price. We do not compare named products here, because we cannot verify another vendor's features or prices and you should hear those from them.
Why this page compares criteria and not competitors
Most alternatives pages are a table in which the author wins every row. We do not think that helps a buyer, and we cannot honestly fill in another company's column: products change monthly, and a claim about someone else's software or price list is a claim we could not check. So this page does the useful half. It sets out what separates one dispatch product from another, and it tells you plainly where our own product is strong and where it stops.
The kinds of alternative are worth naming, though. The first is to stay on spreadsheets and chat groups, which is free until a duty is missed. The second is a general fleet tracking product, which shows where vehicles are but does not usually hold bookings or raise invoices. The third is a taxi or ride-hailing platform, built for on-demand rides and a consumer app. The fourth is dispatch software for operators who run booked duties for clients, which is where MobilityDrive sits. Decide which kind you need before comparing products inside it.
The nine criteria
What to compare, how to test it, and where MobilityDrive stands
| Criterion | How to test it in a demo | Where MobilityDrive stands |
|---|---|---|
| Booking sources | Create the same booking by phone entry, client portal and website, and check all three land in one list | One list for dispatcher entry, client portal, customer app, website booking API and bulk import |
| Bad allotments | Try to allot a car with expired insurance, a driver already on a duty, and a driver on leave | Clash, document and leave checks at allotment; overrides only where your policy allows |
| Auto-allocation | Ask what it does when no car is free, and whether it can give a duty to a driver with no vehicle | Allots a vehicle and a driver together or not at all, spreads duties, says what was missing; optional, off by default |
| Tracking | Ask where location comes from and replay yesterday's trip | Driver app location or your own GPS devices over an HTTP endpoint; live map, zones and trip replay. No ready-made adapters for named tracker brands |
| Driver app | Have a driver start, run and close a duty on a phone | Driver, customer and dispatcher apps are built; Android apps are in Google Play review, iPhone apps not yet published |
| Duty record | Check where odometer, tolls, parking and waiting are captured | Duty slip on the driver's phone with passenger confirmation or an approval link |
| Invoicing and tax | Raise a real invoice from a real duty under your country's tax | India GST with IRN through a connector; Saudi VAT with ZATCA Phase 2 tested in sandbox; UAE VAT with PINT AE files. Other countries: your own rate and currency only |
| Accounts | Ask what is exported, in which format, live or by file | Double-entry postings and a Tally voucher export by file; not a live two-way sync |
| Price | Ask what you pay for and what is extra | Published plans in rupees for India from 2,500 rupees a month plus a per-duty charge; Gulf pricing on request |
Where MobilityDrive is not the right alternative
You should look elsewhere if your main need is one of these. Automatic shift rostering and route optimisation for employee transport are not in the product: you set the duties and the pickup order. Self-drive rental with agreements, key handover and damage checks is not covered. Parcel-level delivery management with proof of delivery is not covered. On-demand ride-hailing with a consumer marketplace is a different kind of product. And if you need country-specific e-invoicing outside India, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, it is not built.
We would rather you learn that from this page than in the third week of a trial. A vendor that answers the question of what its product does not do is easier to trust on what it says the product does.
How to run a fair comparison
Give every vendor the same pack: three of your real tariffs, five vehicles, one client contract and a week of bookings, including the awkward ones. Ask each to take a booking through to a correct invoice in front of you. Time it. Count how many steps needed their staff. Then ask for the export formats and the cancellation terms in writing. Our article on how to choose fleet dispatch software has the ten questions to ask, and the dispatch software checklist for corporate transport turns them into a request for proposal you can send.
To see how MobilityDrive answers each criterion in detail, start with the fleet dispatch software page, check the plans on the pricing page, and read how auto-allocation of drivers and vehicles works before you trust any product to allot for you.
Fleet dispatch software alternatives: frequently asked questions
What are the alternatives to fleet dispatch software?
- There are four broad kinds: staying on spreadsheets and chat groups, a fleet tracking product that shows vehicles but does not hold bookings, a taxi or ride-hailing platform built for on-demand rides, and dispatch software for operators who run booked duties for clients. They solve different problems, so pick the kind first.
What should I compare when choosing between dispatch software products?
- Booking sources, what stops a bad allotment, how auto-allocation behaves, where tracking data comes from, the driver app, how the duty is recorded, invoicing and tax for your country, how it fits your accounts, and what you pay for. Test each one live with your own data.
Why does this page not name competing products?
- Because we cannot verify another vendor's features or prices, and they change often. We describe the criteria and our own position on each, limits included, and suggest you ask every vendor the same questions.
Is MobilityDrive a good alternative to spreadsheet dispatch?
- For an operator who runs booked duties, yes: one booking list replaces the sheet, allotment checks clashes and documents, and the duty slip feeds the invoice. If you run a handful of cars with no corporate billing, a sheet may still be enough.
What does MobilityDrive not do?
- It does not build shift rosters or optimise routes automatically, it is not for self-drive rental or parcel delivery, it is not a consumer ride-hailing marketplace, and country-specific e-invoicing is built only for India, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
